Speak Up for a Child - CASA Training Starts in April

Be the eyes and ears of the court. Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer.

A CASA is a trained community volunteer appointed by the Children's Court Judge to speak for the best interests of a child brought before the court due to abuse or neglect. CASA volunteers benefit both the child and the court system by advocating for the child's needs.

Our next training will be held April 2014.

Childhaven Cares!

Childhaven serves children and youth who have suffered from abuse, neglect and traumatic experiences. Our services are comprehensive, from 24-hour out of home care to the full spectrum of Child Advocacy Services aimed at investigating the abuse, treating the child and family members, and lending support and advocacy so that they may recover from their trauma. We serve children from infants through 21 years of age. We provide competent and caring services in an environment that is culturally competent, child centered, family focused and community based.

Since 1969, Childhaven has been a safe haven for child victims of abuse and neglect in the Four Corners region. Please join us as we continue to make a difference in the lives of children and families!

We need CASA Volunteers!

Putting Your Donations to Work
A 16 year old girl was referred to Childhaven upon discharge from the hospital where she had been treated for substance abuse...Now via email she has let us know that she successfully completed her drug treatment program and is well on her road to recovery. At right is one of the posters she made made for display at the Childhaven Foundation booth for the 2012 San Juan County Fair. Click here or on the image for an enlarged view and the story.

My Childhaven Experience
During my childhood I spent a couple of months at Childhaven. This was because I had abusive and neglectful parents...The best part about
living there was that it was a safe place. Read her story in the Foundation Spring Newsletter.

Foster Care: Help us spread the word! Childhaven’s  main goal for this next year is to license more foster families to help us in our mission of Lifting Children from Crisis to Hope…Read about foster care, and about how to become a foster parent.
