HELPING CHILDREN HEAL FROM ABUSE

Childhaven’s Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a nationally accredited program . Here, our Forensic Interviewers and Family Advocates, in cooperation with law enforcement and other multidisciplinary partners, aid in the investigation of cases of abuse and neglect while providing support to the child victims and their families. Children who are involved in a criminal investigation – because they have witnessed or been victims of violent or sexual crimes – are brought to our CACs where our trained staff conduct a developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, forensically defensible, interview. This interview is recorded for and distributed to involved law enforcement agencies so the child doesn’t have to repeat the traumatic events they have experienced. The child can then move on to healing through case management, victim advocacy, and other behavioral health services that they and their families can access with help from our family advocates.
