Family Support

Since 1994 Childhaven has served the needs of children and family members by providing advocacy services to families in need. A Family Advocate provides referral and case management services to children, youth and their families. Comprehensive Community Support workers are community based staff, available to children and youth with severe emotional disturbances. This service can help the child/adolescent or family member identify and address the barriers that impede the child/adolescent’s development of skills necessary for independent functioning in the community.

CCSS activities address the following goals:

• Independent Living and Lifeskills
• Employment and Education
• Social Skills
• Reduction of Symptoms

CCSS supports the client and the family in crisis situations and in developing independent coping skills.

Childhaven's Comprehensive Community Support Services are provided to children and adolescents who are at risk or are experiencing one or more of the following:

• Physical, mental or behavioral problems
• Runaway or homeless youth
• Substance abuse
• Physical abuse or neglect
• Multiple agency involvement
